Good Little Computer April 27, 2010 Koolove (Virginia) I only have one negative thing that I have to say about this little machine, and that is the vertical CD drive is a little bit peculiar. Other than that, it's a great little machine that does every thing I need it to do. If you buy it, you won't be sorry.
Good Computer but beware Acer's Limited Tech Support April 19, 2010 A. Brower (Brooklyn, NY United States) It seems to be a very capable computer, quite powerful and with Windows 7 64bit.
The DVD drive is vertical (which is slightly inconvenient).
It comes with no systems disks, but the user is prompted to burn them. This failed three times and Acer is mailing system disks. Two days later all desktops icons were corrupt and the .lnk association was screwed up.
Acer Tech Support's ONLY solution was to reset the system to factory defaults (thus negating four hours of work transferring files and installing programs). Going to an Acer senior tech got the same response.
I found the solution on the web and fixed it myself.
Acer's Tech Support for this computer seems to be extremely limited - this might be a huge headache for the inexperienced use computer and cost big$$$ for Acer's paid support.
Extremely Good Computer April 9, 2010 Winston Waldemayer (Florida, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I never really thought much of ACER until just recently when I bought one of their laptops. I was so impressed with the quality, ease of setup, and features on the laptop that when my desktop died I naturally wanted to go ACER. I bought this and was extremely suprised. Setup was very easy but instructions for setup were a little lacking. I had her up in running in less than 12 minutes. DVD Drive being vertical is a little weird and DVD is a little noisy when doing burns but those have been mentioned in other reviews. Performance wise, it is really good. I need a desktop for multi media type stuff like family videos, playing DVD's, music, documents, streaming video, email, and web surfing. I don't load or play high end games on my computer so I can't say how well it plays games but I figure being triple core and 4GB RAM that it would at least do a fine job of it. When I first set it up... I remember hooking up to my laptop via homegroup in Windows 7 and transferring my entire itunes library (16.8GB) to this ACER X1301, transferring 10GB worth of pictures, downloading ESWORD program from the web, and surfing the web, .... at the same time without a hitch.
Features are A+ for what I need. Amazon and FedEX were right on time with super saver shipping (I got it in 4 days). She is quiet as long as you are not burning DVD's, nice small space saving package, hookups for USB,HDMI,VGA,firewire,eSata, multi card reader, are plentiful. Seems very solid with plenty of hard drive space for the average to mid level computer user. Everything I need plus so much more! Did I mention Windows 7 is awesome? Great product!
Solid computer but with major flaws March 28, 2010 Paul (Almaden, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Well, I bought this computer based on the reviews and specs.
It is very solid in terms of CPU speed and storage space with good price.
However, after I leave it for a while and goes to sleep, it goes to blue-screen with
core dump. I used recovery to go back to the factory setting twice. When I searched
the google, it says that I need to udpate all the drivers. So I have done that.
But without any exception, when it wakes up from sleep, it locks up and goes to blue screen. So I am suspecting it did not work at factory setting.
It was a big dissapointment and problem returning it as I throw away all packing materials.
So Be aware...
Exceptional buy March 23, 2010 Vincent C. Abel (Orrville, Ohio) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Quiet computer. I bought this computer and have it hooked to a 46'LCD tv. It streams video and Live Tv over the net for me. It works great! No more cable bill.
We also use it for Windows media center and HDTV Live Tv on media center. Great buy.
It will pay for itself in four months.
